About SwarmBase

A modern hub for the people who actually collect the swarms.

SwarmBase is built for UK beekeepers and the associations that support them. We turn scattered phone trees, WhatsApp groups and spreadsheets into one calm workflow — so reports get answered, colonies get rehomed, and your association gets the credit.

The story

Why SwarmBase exists.

Every spring, beekeepers across the UK quietly do an extraordinary thing: they drop what they’re doing, drive across town, and rehome a colony of honey bees that turned up in someone’s garden. They do it for free, in their own kit, on their own time.

The way that work gets coordinated, though, hasn’t kept up. Most associations still juggle a public phone number, a swarm coordinator’s personal mobile, a WhatsApp group, and a spreadsheet that nobody can find at 7pm on a Sunday. Reports go missing. Collectors get sent to the same address twice. The colony moves on.

We built SwarmBase to fix that — without taking anything away from the people doing the work. Public reports come in through ReportSwarm, flow into your association’s shared inbox, and get matched to a local beekeeper who can actually go and collect.

What we care about

Three things we try to get right.

  • Built around beekeepers

Every workflow starts with what a working beekeeper actually does on a Saturday morning — not what looks neat on a dashboard.

  • Associations stay in charge

Your committee owns membership, dispatch and outcomes. SwarmBase gives you the tools — it never takes the wheel.

  • Simple, calm, free to start

No quotas, no per-swarm fees, no card required while we’re early. The craft is hard enough already.

For beekeepers

You decide which swarms, and when.

Set your radius, your availability and your kit. SwarmBase only pings you about swarms close enough — and quiet enough — to be worth the trip. No quotas, no rota guilt.

For associations

The hub your committee has been asking for.

Welcome new members with one shareable link, approve them in a tap, and run dispatch the way that suits your area — coordinator review, auto-dispatch, or a mix of both.

  • One inbox for every public swarm report
  • Coordinator-led or auto-dispatch — your choice
  • See every outcome, season after season
